the “last” first day.
September 4, 2007

An all too-familiar routine. Dad reading the paper, my brother finishing his bacon and eggs, my mom cleaning the kitchen, and me, watching the frenzy, as I always eat my breakfast much earlier. My theory is, by getting breakfast out of the way, you have the last fifteen minutes before leaving set apart for the “what am I forgetting?” questioning period.

The first day of school. Sheesh: have I not past this point in my life YET? Well, I haven’t and am still trying to accept that, but I’ve just completed my “last” first day of school, the first day of Grade 12. I was feeling ridiculous and made my mom take a picture of myself and my younger, but much BIGGER brother. How embarassing is the fact that I haven’t grown since I was 12 years old? What can I say; there’s truly no hope. My Grandma at her tallest was just over 5 foot and my mother is a short 5′2; the same height as me.

Last night I met up with a family from Vernon, BC to shoot some images of their darling three children, Noah, McKenna and Keely. They were so cute! We had a ton of fun climbing monkey bars, running through the gravel playground, swinging, playing tag and finding neat places to shoot.

SUCH a cute story about this photo; I was trying to sit all 3 kids down in front of the doors, but Keely (in the middle) was insisting on standing. I love her response when I was chatting as I was shooting and said, Keely: what’s your favourite thing in the world? Her answer? “Standing.”

Adorable moment.

Hope you’ll enjoy your images Tiessen family, your slideshow is below!

Check out how cool THAT IS! Somehow it’s so much more rewarding to go out for a run, and come home and have the treat of being able to play with all these cool gadgets. Nike has this awesome system where you stick this sensor in your shoe and connect a wireless piece to your Ipod Nano and boom! You are plugged in. It’s wonderful!
I bought the Nike+ shoes (nikeplus.com) a few months ago, because I’ve been eye-ing this system for even longer than that. I need new shoes, so I thought I’d buy some that were compatible. I’ve been using the shoes for running w/o the Ipod Sport Kit, because that was another $40. I finally sprung for it yesterday and I love it.
My runs are so short, it’s pathetic; but hey, it’s better than nothing, right? I’m going to start to work my way up to an average of three miles everytime I go out, instead of two. So, if you ever want to challenge me, my username is jamiedelaine and I can’t figure out how to browse other people’s runs. So if you can help me out; that’d be great. I know a lot of photographers have this lately, so we need to start some sort of challenge, that I will most definitely lose. But that’s OK, it’ll make you feel better.

I finally sat down today and got the time to put some new images on my website, including a few from my Europe travels earlier this summer. You can find them under the “travel” section of jamiedelaine.com.
Although I’m not accept wedding clients as of now, I put up a “wedding” section on my website just to show off a bit of my work from the past few weeks! I plan to accept wedding work in the Spring/Summer of 2008.
Enjoy&let me know what you think.
